Welcome to Sunwest Volleyball!!!

OUR BIG
PLANS
The players and staff of the Sunwest
Volleyball Club have been presented with a rare and
extraordinary opportunity. Some time ago, Charlie Jackson and I
came up with an idea for creating a new club in San Diego
county. I knew Charlie from his involvement in USA Volleyball,
Starlings, and Beach Volleyball America, all national-level
organizations. On a local level, Charlie has played an active
role in age-group sports for over fifteen years.
What was proposed was the creation of a
new club program to be run out of an already existing volleyball
facility in the South Poway Business Park. The plan was for
Charlie to purchase this building, allowing him to dedicate its
long term use to volleyball and then have me head up its club
program. Immediately, I liked the idea for three reasons: 1) the
job would enhance my ability to assist teams throughout the
club; 2) the facility is, without question, the best volleyball
training gym in Southern California; and 3) once permanent
ownership was established, it would remain a fixture for a club
program to serve junior volleyball players for years to come.
Now, Charlie has followed through with
the plan. He is purchasing the building and will maintain it as
a permanent volleyball facility. Beginning in July, it will be
the home of Epic Volleyball
Club. The new club will blend coaches
and players who share a special vision.
To everyone at Sunwest, the Epic
Volleyball Club
will serve Sunwest's ongoing mission: "To provide the best
teaching environment for athletes through hard work and
camaraderie." Our new club will carry on the Sunwest
tradition with coaches and players who visibly enjoy volleyball.
As the head coach in Sunwest's final
year, I feel the enthusiasm and high expectations of our
athletes have made these last few seasons very special. Next
year we envision our current staff, athletes and parents will
provide an even higher quality experience and do much to
continue a set of values that make us proud. I hope you will
shape our new club's commitment to the volleyball community in
San Diego county.
Ozhan

NOKIA will continue to sponsor Sunwest
players. Nokia chose to sponsor a Sunwest volleyball team in an
effort to make club volleyball more accessible to female athletes and to
foster the growth of women's athletics overall.
Members
of the 18-Nokia team will participate in community relations activities
throughout the season as goodwill ambassadors of Nokia and Sunwest
Volleyball Club. In return, Nokia will sponsor a portion of each
player's regular season dues.
Led by returning veteran coach
Ozhan Bahrambeygui,
with co-coaches Bert
Novicio and Luis
Cuatok, this team will travel to key regional and national tournaments, including: Kick Off Classic, Las Vegas Invitational, all SCVA
mandatories, plus the
year-end Davis Festival.

Sunwest 16-Mizuno
After
the success of last year, Mizuno will continue to sponsor Sunwest players. Mizuno has made its mark
on the volleyball community as an official sponsor of the United States
Volleyball Association and will provide USA's National and Olympic teams
with equipment and apparel.
In
addition to the exclusive use of Mizuno uniforms and apparel by the entire
club, Sunwest's top 16s team will carry the Mizuno name and will
receive additional Mizuno gear - including team footwear, kneepads, etc. -
at no additional cost. |
